What TeenCue does

TeenCue helps a parent or guardian understand how their teen uses supported AI chat services. When a prompt is submitted on one of those services, TeenCue records a classification of it: a general usage category, a short topic label, a safety classification and a severity level. Your dashboard and the Weekly Teen Brief show those classifications.

TeenCue works with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Character.AI, Grok, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Meta AI and Poe. That is the list it supports today, not every AI service that exists.

TeenCue does not give you a transcript of your teen’s conversations. It shows you what AI was used for, not what was typed. There is no feature anywhere in the product that reproduces the text of a prompt.

TeenCue only sees activity while the extension is running in a connected browser. It does not block websites, it does not watch general browsing, and it records nothing when that browser is closed or the extension is removed.

Getting set up

Setting TeenCue up takes a few minutes:

• Create a TeenCue parent account and add your teen, which creates their private profile.
• On the computer your teen uses for AI, install the TeenCue extension in Chrome.
• Open your teen’s page in TeenCue and choose Connect this browser if you are already on that computer, or Connect another device to get a setup code.
• If you are using a code, click the TeenCue icon in that computer’s Chrome toolbar and enter it. Codes work once and expire after 10 minutes.
• The device appears on your dashboard as Monitoring active once it has checked in.

TeenCue is not built for secret monitoring. Install it with your teen’s knowledge. Pairing is a step the two of you can complete together, and the extension stays visible in their browser.

TeenCue is a Chrome extension, so it is installed on the computer your teen uses rather than on a phone. You can read your dashboard from any device.

Activity is not appearing

If your teen has used an AI service but nothing shows on their page, work through these in order:

• Click the TeenCue icon in Chrome on your teen’s computer and check that it says Connected. If it shows a pairing field instead, the browser is not connected yet.
• Refresh the AI tab, or close and reopen it. A tab that was already open when TeenCue was installed or updated will not be monitored until it is reloaded.
• Check that the right child is connected. On your dashboard, open the child’s page and confirm the browser is listed under Connected devices. A browser can only be connected to one child at a time.
• Confirm the service is one TeenCue supports. Activity on other AI services, or inside other apps, is not recorded.
• Check the device is still reporting. If it shows a last seen time rather than Monitoring active, that computer may be asleep, offline, or the extension may have been disabled or removed.
• If activity still does not appear, email us and we will help.

It is normal for a device to show a last seen time rather than Monitoring active for a while. A closed laptop is not an error.

Your data

To work out what a prompt was about, the text of that prompt is sent securely to TeenCue and on to the service that performs the classification. What comes back is a category, a short topic label, a safety classification and a severity level. TeenCue keeps that result.

The prompt text itself is not stored in the TeenCue database, which has no field capable of holding it, and it is not shown on any TeenCue screen. Nobody at TeenCue reads it as part of running the service.

TeenCue does not collect general browsing history. The extension runs only on the supported AI services listed above, plus the TeenCue website itself, where it does nothing but let you connect a browser without copying a code by hand.

You can turn Weekly Teen Brief emails off at any time from your account. To ask us to delete your account and its data, email us from the address on your account.
